2010 Updates!!!!!
The 2010 season is fast approaching us here at Cleveland County Speedway, and along with the anticipation of opening day, there is also a great deal of excitement and many questions about the schedule this year, the changes and construction that is underway,and the purses and payouts. I will try to answer as many of those questions as I can in this post. There is still a great deal to be done, but several things have been confirmed and can be passed along.
Completing the construction and having the speedway in shape for opening day is our top priority right now. The pits will be outside on the backstretch with cars exiting the speedway at the extreme top of the middle of turn 1, and coming back out on the speedway down near turn 3. The hill on the backstretch will be cut down about 8 foot and there will be some bleacher seating put up, with new speakers, lighting and new bathrooms. The turn 2 concession will now be the pit concession and that is where payouts will be done at.
Opening day is scheduled for Saturday, March 20th with a practice and a car show competition for everyone to come out and see the changes first hand and check out all the new race cars. The first race is scheduled for Saturday March 27th and the first points race is scheduled for Friday night April 2nd. Our schedule of events so far include 2 Carolina Clash SLM races scheduled in 2010, the first being May 7th and the second race set for August 20th. The August Carolina Clash race will be the 2010 Preston Humphries Memorial Race for the Super Late Model division. We also have an NDRA National Touring race scheduled for the GMPLM division in the month of June. Also plans are in the works for the vintage cars to make a few appearances, as well as hosting a couple of those wild Road Rage races, and we are working with several sponsors on putting together a V-8 Nationals race in Oct. and a Nationals qualifying race in June or July for the GMPLM, Limited Sportsman, Renegade and Pure Stock 8 divisions.
Purses and Payouts will all be the same or more this year in all divisions. No cuts were made in any divisions overall payout. These are the Payouts for a regular weekly show in 2010.
